AT&T, Human I-T Provide 120 Laptops to Palmetto Goodwill

AT&T* and Human I-T provided Palmetto Goodwill 120 refurbished laptops in October to distribute to Charleston youth and families.

The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, were given to Palmetto Goodwill youth and families.

Founded in 1979, Palmetto Goodwill is a local, community-based, non-profit social enterprise whose mission is changing lives by providing equitable access to training, education, and employment.

“Palmetto Goodwill’s mission is to change lives by providing equitable access to training, education, and employment — and access to technology is essential to making those opportunities possible for everyone in our community,” said Brian Itzkowitz, President and CEO of Palmetto Goodwill.   “We are grateful for AT&T’s donation of laptops, which will help bridge the digital divide and ensure that more students in our community have the tools they need to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.”

“Closing the digital divide is critical for ensuring that every South Carolinian has a fair shot at success. AT&T’s collaboration with Palmetto Goodwill to donate laptops to Charleston youth and families is helping connect more South Carolinians,” said Senator Deon Tedder. “These laptops will help open doors to opportunity for students and families who need the tools to learn, connect and compete in a 21stcentury workforce.”

“This collaboration between AT&T and Palmetto Goodwill is a powerful example of how we can work together to lift up students, strengthen families and build stronger communities,” said Representative Courtney Waters. “By providing access to technology, we are equipping our youth with the resources they need to succeed today and tomorrow.”

This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

“AT&T is committed to helping close the digital divide, and we are proud to support Palmetto Goodwill by providing laptops to Charleston youth and families,” said Jay Byrd, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T South Carolina. “Together, we are creating pathways to success and connecting more South Carolinians to greater possibility.”
